nothing compares …

writing challenge – praying the Lords promises …

Well we made it to the finish! 31 day challenge of writing and focusing and praying and leaning into the Lords promises. Actually I made it 29 days. I missed the first day and the last day (Halloween). But while I went for a walk this morning and reflected on the Lords promises a phrase came to mind …

Have you heard that song? Come as you are by crowder?

Here are the lyrics –

Come out of sadness From wherever you’ve been Come broken hearted Let rescue begin Come find your mercy Oh sinner come kneel Earth has no sorrow That heaven can’t heal Earth has no sorrow That heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens Lay down your shame All who are broken Lift up your face Oh wanderer come home You’re not too far So lay down your hurt Lay down your heart Come as you are
There’s hope for the hopeless And all those who’ve strayed Come sit at the table Come taste the grace There’s rest for the weary Rest that endures Earth has no sorrow That heaven can’t cure
So lay down your burdens Lay down your shame All who are broken Lift up your face Oh wanderer come home You’re not too far So lay down your hurt Lay down your heart Come as you are Come as you are Fall in his arms Come as you are There’s joy for the morning Oh sinner be still Earth has no sorrow That heaven can’t heal Earth has no sorrow That heaven can’t heal
So lay down your burdens Lay down your shame All who are broken Lift up your face Oh wanderer come home You’re not too far So lay down your hurt Lay down your heart Come as you are Come as you are Come as you are
I want to just put the whole song in italics because it is just so good. And just made me realize that it kinda sums up what I’ve seen through praying the Lords promises this month. “Earth has no sorrow, that heaven can’t heal.” – what a promise that is, and how true it is as well.

The Lord has blessed us with promises far beyond being able to only focus on them for 31 days – the bible is overflowing with the Lords promises, we could probably go on and on and on focusing on them and leaning into them. But earth has nothing even close to what the Lord has to offer us. Earth can’t heal our sorrows, our shame, our brokenness – only God can. When we can let go of the things we hold on to so tightly here in our temporary home – we can start to see the promises the Lord blesses us with now and in our eternal home. For like it says in Romans 8:18 “what we suffer now is nothing in comparison to the glory He will reveal to us later.” I want to see His glory – I feel like this blog reaching people makes my suffering worth it and shines light upon Him and in that I praise Him and give Him all the glory!! And you know what … that makes it all worth it.

I’m not sure I am staying on track anymore so I guess I should wrap up. I’ll end with this piece of scripture the Lord brought me this morning …

We have to keep believing … Keep praying … Keep fighting … Keep choosing to see, to believe, to ignore the enemy and the voices he puts in our head and replace them with the Lord promises. Because nothing … Nothing even comes close in comparison to the Glory that He will reveal to those who are faithful, who believe, who place their heart, their trust in God our Father!

Keep fighting friends – His glory is worth it  … You are worth it … We are worth it. Believe in His truths and hold tight to them.
